In 2015 Wasa Dredging was awarded the contract of deepening the fairway into Oslo, the capital city of Norway. The work was to be executed in four different municipalities: Oslo, Baerum, Nesodden and Frogn, along the entirety of the fairway into Oslo. Due to a lot of constructions in the fairway Wasa had to plan and execute most of the blasting as careful blasting with vibration requirements.
The blasting and dredging of the masses was handled by combined drilling platform/backhoe dredger “Hector” and the bedrock was transported over a distance of up to 20 km by the two 940 m3 split-hopper barges “Miika II” and “Dana II”.
The project also consisted of environmental dredging. For this scope backhoe dredger “Optimus” alongside with 700 m3 split-hopper barges “Jenna”&”Laura” were mobilized. The environmental scope consisted of around 19 800 tonnage tha was taken to special reclamation sites and significant measures were implemented to protect the environment and the marine life.
The works were executed in the period between October 2015 and May 2016 and the total value of the project was around 155 million Norwegian krones.
